i have suddenly become obsessed with a theme that HoO established but never proceeded to extrapolate on, which is:
You are Percy Jackson, and you have been swapped with a boy who was allegedly everyone's favorite person, but they have decided to replace him with you. They just met you. You stand next to his best friend and the people he's known his entire life. In his home. In his cloak. In his place. They stopped looking for him.
You are Jason Grace, and you have just found out you have a long lost sister who completely replaced you in her life with this girl you just met. Your lives and personalities are mirrors. She is you, living the life you were robbed of.

I love Sonic games cause nobody has any clue wtf is happening half the time.
They are all just doing their own thing when they all randomly meet up, each knowing about 2% of the plot, and then the worlds ending and Eggman is up to his shit again, time to beat him with the power of friendship woohoo!
#talking specifically about the adventure games up to 06#everyone has their own side plot that have nothing to do with the main plot until suddenly it does#for example sa1. sonic sees a funky guy and beats him up then gets jumped by everybody then hes fighting a god#big is literally just there#in sa2 sonic for once knows somehwat of whats happening for once#knuckles on the other hand is just trying to find the emerald shards and ends up in space#poor guy had no clue what was happening#in heroes the main three are the only ones who kinda know what’s happening#everyone is off doing their own shit and beating each other up for literally no reason#in 06 sonic is so out of the loop#hes just trying to save elise when he gets jumped by a random guy who can throw shit with his mind and insists hes going to end the world#then he gets stabbed and has to fight the god of time#i love it so much#none of these fuckers can communicate#stuff just happens around them and its an average tuesday#dont even get me started on shadow the hedgehog#nobody had a singke fucjing clue what was happening outside of shadow#theres aliens coming down killing people and shadows having existential crisis while sonic over here at max energy goofing off#idek why knuckles is there but hes there for some reason#the chaotix are just around doing whatever is it they do#its so chaotic#nobody can communicate and they are all running in separate directions that somehow lead to the same place#its so great#peak storytelling 10/10 sega bring this back#i crave the absolutely convoluted plots where I dont know what’s happening and niether does anyone else#sonic the hedgehog#sth#sa2#sonic 06#shadow the hedgehog

the way Vane secures his place as a Favoured Captain by allowing his crew to systematically SA Max is disgusting and insidious & the way Elanor uses Max's SA to basically get Flint a second ship and potentially secures her own role in their pirating business venture is, similarly, really fucking disgusting and insidious
#ikildaman shut the fuck up#rape mention#spoilers#black sails#the way Elanor turns her brain off mid-tirade when she recognises monetary gain#like earlier when she was about to chew a guys ear off about calling her a cunt. but then somebody says hes an earner#and bc he contributes to her business/secures her position in their world she switches up on him mid yelling#idk i feel like this is that happening again#shes literally beating men with a blunt weapon and telling them theyre finished selling buying eating on the island. and then vane opens#his big fucking mouth and suddenly its like it reminded her that these men played an important role in a big investment#so she just turns that anger unto Vane himself but lets everybody else basically get a pass#so long as they abide by her demands and play their roles#i completely understand max's resentment towards her after she 'saves' her#because even in this moment. even in this deeply fucked up out-in-the-open group assault of this woman. she made it about the business#i was literally thinking bout that first scene before this played and ruminating on how. well.#i find her behaviour spineless and cringe theres no other way for me to word it. genuinely cringe#and then this happens and its like ohh the capitalist is written into your character inherently ohhhhhh. riiiiiiiight

its been so long since human content/new content with no book relevancy even the youtubers and theorists like dawko and john are getting restless😭

sorry im just thinking about bcs but like. why not add a few smaller scenes of gus interacting with his own men? why does it seem like, in comparison, mike is almost immediately elevated to a higher status than those two in bcs purely because we actually get to see him having normal conversations with gus? like i understand they might not keep the plot moving as well because of the fact obviously if victor is currently doing something it’s because gus told him to etc. but for the most part all of the smaller interactions gus does have with those two ends up being in a somewhat high stress situation where it feels very tense between everyone. and it’s just like damn! is it always like that?? why do those two even care that much about their jobs if their boss is a bit of a dick? etc. i think even an additional scene or two with those guys (either alone or the both of them) talking with gus in a more normal situation could’ve both added a bit more depth into how gus treats his employees (we got a lot with how he treats lyle and co., but not a whole lot with the illegal side of things), how comfortable vic and tyrus feel around him in a calmer setting, and exactly why they both feel the need to be as loyal as they are to the guy.
and also on the other side of this i don't think it'd hurt to maybe elaborate on their pay just a bit..? i'm not saying to randomly put a number out into the atmosphere but i just mean some smaller things like. do they buy nicer things for themselves? what's their housing situation? what's their car situation? are the escalade / yukon their own vehicles or does gus just use those two for business situations? do they use them when they're doing their own stuff off the clock or do they have their own cars? etc. that can also help with understanding their motivations a bit. don't get me wrong i don't think they should be visibly rich or something because that's not what gus would want but just smaller things! cause it's easy to write their loyalty off as Well they probably get paid super well, which i'm sure is true, but if they don't show a single hint of that then what's the point. even something as simple as giving tyrus a nice watch, or maybe victor having a nicer looking gun, etc. something small like that. because as it stands right now the average 41 year old viewer who watched the show once only knows and will only ever know victor and tyrus as those two guys in the background who do random stuff for gus with no clear motivation. just the personification of "On it boss (salute emoji)". and to be honest this is true for a whole lot of fans who do watch the show multiple times and enjoy thinking about it more in depth, because on screen we barely have anything about the two.
and to be clear i'm not trying to say we should have an episode just for them or something like no i understand they're side characters. i understand we don't need all that. and i understand this is also primarily Jimmy's show. but it's not like these two are on the same level as like, arlo or paige and kevin etc. these guys have been around since brba. victor was literally introduced in the same episode gus was. and they are a huge part of gus's story, especially in brba. s4 wouldn't have been what it was without victor and tyrus. and in bcs, ignacio's situation wouldn't have been the same if it weren't for victor and tyrus as well. and i just personally believe that if their goal with gus in bcs was to go back and elaborate on how everything came to be and show what he was like a few years younger, they could've dragged victor and tyrus into that. and i think his character would've benefited from taking that extra step with those two.

The moment in Stardust when Tristan walks into the witch’s lair and Yvaine who thought he didn’t care about her at all lights up while still chained to the sacrificial table of death
#stardust#at the very end of the day the thing that gets me the most about stardust is that she literally glows when she’s happy and you can see it#it’s so me-coded#can’t hide when you like someone can’t#hide when you’re sad#and the light comes and goes as you move about your day#also ??? like?????!!? the story just lets Yvaine love Tristan first and in some ways most#it’s not unrequited it’s not unreturned and so it’s satisfying#but he sets out on his stupid little quest and it’s not just about him realizing that it’s Her not Victoria#it’s also Yvaine learning human love up close after loving it so much from afar#she tells him first!!!! she chooses first!!!!!!!!!!#her generous beautiful noble heart#(I really love her)#anyway my least favorite thing about stardust is the occasional moments of 7th grade boy humor (the princess bride would never)#but still#Tristan coming in to save her. the two of them protecting each other from the smashing mirrors.
